What is a mammography and sonographic examination?

This procedure combines a clinical breast examination performed by a breast specialist (a specialist in breast diseases) with an ultrasound (sonography) scan. The examination is used to detect cancerous or benign changes at an early stage, assess the condition of the breasts following surgery, and monitor breast implants.

This is a comprehensive outpatient service suitable for all women, and especially for those before and after breast plastic surgery. It is recommended to undergo this examination annually as a preventive measure or when addressing specific concerns. It is safe for all age groups, including pregnant and breastfeeding women.

The examination is not mandatory, but it is strongly recommended before breast surgery or in cases of a family history of breast cancer. As a preventive measure, mammography and ultrasound examinations are recommended once a year for all women aged 30 and older.

Possible complications are rare and may include:
