  • Discontinuation of blood thinners 7 days before the procedure
  • Avoid alcohol and smoking 2 days before the procedure
  • On the day of the procedure, do not apply make-up or creams around the nose and lips

  • Duration of the procedure: approx. 45 minutes
  • Local anaesthesia or analgosedation
  • Precise removal of a strip of skin just below the nose
  • Stitching with fine stitches – the scar is hidden in a groove under the nose

  • Rest and cooling on the first day
  • Gentle washing of the area and application of healing ointments

Follow up

  • Suture removal usually on day 5-7

Medium restriction: 2-3 days of rest after the procedure

Recommendations

  • First 48 hours to cool the area
  • Sleep on your back with your head in an elevated position for the first 3 days
  • Avoid talking, laughing and miming in the early days
  • Do not eat hot and spicy food
  • Avoid physical exertion for about 7-10 days
  • Return to normal activities after about a week

  • Active cold sores or infections around the lips
  • Disorders of healing or blood clotting
  • Allergy to local anaesthetics

Possible complications are rare and may include:

  • Bleeding, infections
