What is a Mommy Makeover?

Mommy Makeover is a combination of plastic surgery procedures designed to help women restore firmness, shape and proportion to their bodies after childbirth. A comprehensive Mommy Makeover procedure most often includes an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), breast reshaping or augmentation, and possibly liposuction. It is not one specific procedure, but a series of procedures that are usually performed in one operation. The procedure can take 3-6 hours depending on the extent. It is only appropriate after weight stabilization and cessation of breastfeeding, and at least 6 months after delivery.

Consultation with a doctor

  • We will discuss your wishes and options based on consideration of your physical disposition

Preoperative examination

  • ECG, blood tests, sonographic or mammographic breast examination

  • Results must be no older than 14 days before the procedure
  • Inform the doctor about the medicines and supplements you are taking

Preparation before the procedure

  • 7 days before the procedure, take out blood thinners
  • 24 h before the procedure no smoking
  • 12 h before the operation do not eat, drink alcohol or coffee
  • Do not use body creams and perfumes on the day of the procedure
  • A stable weight is ideal.

Procedure

  • The length of the procedure is 3-6 hours depending on the extent
  • Combination of abdominoplasty and selected breast surgery
  • If necessary, it can be combined with liposuction

After the procedure

  • The patient usually stays in the clinic for 2-3 days
  • An elastic bandage is applied to the abdomen
  • The breasts are protected by a tightening bra
  • Lessons on post-operative care and scar care
  • Make sure you get a ride home – you may not be able to drive immediately after the procedure.

Follow up

  • 7-10 days after the procedure a follow-up with the surgeon takes place
  • Stitches are usually not removed because they are self-absorbed

    • Regular checks once a year are recommended
