What is thigh surgery?

With greater weight loss or due to age, elasticity is lost and unsightly skin overhangs on the thighs are formed. Thigh lift surgery effectively removes excess skin, improves the shape of the limbs and allows for more comfortable movement.

This is a procedure that surgically removes excess skin and fat on the inner thighs. In some cases, the procedure is complemented by liposuction. The result is a firming of the contours and smoother lines of the lower legs. The procedure takes approximately 2 hours.

Treatment procedure

Consultation with a doctor

  • Examination of the skin condition, the extent of the overhang and assessment of the suitability of the procedure.

Preoperative examination

  • ECG, blood tests
  • It is possible to undergo an examination at our clinic
  • Results must be no older than 14 days before the procedure
  • Inform the doctor about the medicines and supplements you are taking

Preparation before the procedure

  • Avoid weight fluctuations – it is advisable to undergo the procedure only after you have stabilized your weight
  • 7 days before the procedure, take out blood thinners
  • 24 h before the procedure no smoking
  • 12 h before the operation do not eat, drink alcohol or coffee

Procedure

  • The length of the procedure is approximately 2 hours
  • The incision is made from the groin downwards to the area below the buttocks.
  • Excess skin and fat are removed, or liposuction is performed.

After the procedure

  • Compression underwear is worn for a minimum of 14 days, initially continuously.
  • The patient usually stays in the clinic for 1-2 days
  • Elastic bandage worn while sleeping
  • Lessons on post-operative care and scar care
  • Make sure you get a ride home – you may not be able to go home immediately after the procedure

Follow up

  • Removal of the patches and dressing of the wound after 14 days.
  • Stitches are self-absorbing

Long-term controls

  • The development of the scar is monitored
  • Pressure massage and the use of silicone strips are recommended.

Possible complications are rare and may include:

  • Bleeding, swelling
  • Thickened or enlarged scar
  • Unevenness after liposuction
