What is Browlift?

A browlift is a surgical procedure that lifts the eyebrows, smooths the forehead, and opens the eyes – with natural-looking results. There are two basic types of browlift – classic (direct) and endoscopic. Both are used to lift the brow, smooth the forehead and rejuvenate the upper third of the face. The difference lies in the extent and approach to the surgery – endoscopic is less invasive. The endoscopic technique is also suitable for younger patients with genetically determined brow droop or deep forehead wrinkles.

Preoperative examination

  • Photo documentation
  • Preoperative examination – ECG, blood tests

  • Results must be no older than 14 days before the procedure
  • Inform the doctor about the medicines and supplements you are taking

Preparation before the procedure

  • 7 days before the procedure, take out blood thinners
  • 48 h before the procedure no smoking
  • 12 h before the operation do not eat, drink alcohol
  • Do not use body creams and perfumes on the day of the procedure

  • The operation takes 60-90 minutes
  • It takes place under general, local anaesthesia or analgosedation
  • The classic approach: cuts are made in the line of the eyebrows
  • Endoscopic approach: small incisions in the hairline
  • Classical approach: incision in the hairy part of the head

  • First check within 7 days
  • Stitches are removed after 10 days or as recommended by the surgeon.

Recovery

Aftercare

Increased restriction: 1 week of rest after the procedure

Recommendations

  • Wearing the elastic bandage continuously for 7 days
  • Resting period of at least 7-10 days
  • Sleep on your back with your head in an elevated position for at least 10 days
  • Swelling and bruising gradually subside within 2 weeks
  • Avoid sports and physical exertion for at least 2 weeks
  • Temporary swelling, pressure or numbness in the forehead is normal

Contraindications

Possible complications

The treatment is not suitable for people who:

  • Active inflammation in the forehead or scalp area
  • Healing disorders, immunodeficiency

Possible complications are rare and may include:

  • Swelling, bruising
  • Temporary skin numbness
  • Slight asymmetry
