What is a miniphlebectomy?

Miniphlebectomy is a surgical method designed to remove individual varicose branches using tiny skin punctures (2-3 mm). The doctor uses a special hook to pull the affected veins out and the entry wounds heal spontaneously without the need for sutures.

Preparation before the procedure

Increased restriction: 1-2 weeks of rest after the procedure

Recommendations

First 3 weeks

  • Wearing compression stockings for 3 weeks after the procedure (at least 3 days continuously, then 10 days 24 hours a day with a break for a shower and 7 days only during the day).
  • Avoid sports and physical exertion for 3 weeks after the plug

The following days

  • 7-10 days to heal wounds
  • Normal daily activities are possible almost immediately

The treatment is not suitable for people who:

  • With active skin infection in the area of surgery
  • With superficial venous thrombosis
  • With inflammation of the veins
  • With proven valvular insufficiency of the superficial venous system
  • With severe bleeding disorders
  • Pregnant women (postponement after childbirth)

Possible complications are rare and may include:

  • Minor bruising (absorbed within 2-4 weeks)
  • Temporary hardening in the subcutaneous tissue
  • Minimal risk of wound infection
