What is an eyebrow transplant?

Eyebrow transplantation is a gentle microsurgical procedure that helps you achieve symmetrical, thick and aesthetically shaped eyebrows – naturally and permanently. An eyebrow transplant is a specialized procedure in which hair bulbs (grafts) are transferred from another part of the body – most commonly the back of the neck – to the eyebrow area. The modern FUE technique is used, in which the grafts are removed and implanted individually without visible scarring. This method allows precise selection of the direction of growth and angle of each hair and the result is natural and long-lasting.

  • Assessment of the natural shape and density of the eyebrows
  • Design of the desired appearance (symmetry, density, shape)
  • Evaluation of the suitability of FUE transplantation

Preparation before the procedure

  • Stabilized state of health and absence of inflammation
  • 1 week before the procedure, abstain from alcohol, caffeine and nicotine
  • Limit the use of pain medication and acetylsalicylic acid preparations 1 week before the procedure

Procedure

  • Duration of the procedure: 3-5 hours
  • It takes place under local anaesthesia
  • Collection of fine hair grafts from the nape of the neck, division into fine single hair grafts
  • Precision graft implantation

After the procedure

  • Mild swelling in the forehead and eyelids (subsides within 2-3 days)
  • First eyebrow wash after 48 h
  • Without the need for hospitalisation
  • Return to normal mode within a few days

Follow up

  • The first check-up usually takes place within 7-10 days, according to the agreement with the surgeon.

Long-term controls

  • The course of healing and the quality of the scar are evaluated, and additional treatment is suggested if necessary.

Moderate restriction: resting mode 1-2 days

Recommendations

Immediately after the procedure

  • Resting mode: 1-2 days
  • Suitable for sleeping with the head elevated
  • Washing eyebrows from day 3 with mild soap/shampoo

One week after the procedure

  • Do not remove the scabs at the transplantation site immediately after the procedure, a week after the procedure, urinate and lightly comb
  • Sport and sauna ideally after 2-3 weeks

One month after the procedure

  • After 4 weeks – new hairs grow like hair – they need to be trimmed
  • Visible growth of new eyebrows after 3-4 months
  • Final result in 9-12 months

Contraindications

Possible complications

The treatment is not suitable for people who:

  • With insufficient donor area
  • With an active infection or skin disease in the face
  • With a serious chronic disease

Possible complications are rare and may include:

  • Swelling and redness at the implantation site
  • Mild itching or burning
  • Rarely – infection, poor healing
