INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROCEDURE

What is a breast implant exchange?

Modern surgical procedures ensure that the procedure is gentler and the recovery time shorter than the first augmentation. Breast implant replacement is a surgical procedure in which the original silicone implant is removed and a new one is inserted. It is performed for a variety of reasons – most commonly to prevent wear and tear, rupture, or to change the patient’s preference for breast size or shape. The advantage is that the body has already created a pocket for the implant, which makes the whole process easier and faster.

In our clinic, we use only implants with a high degree of global certification for use in terms of quality and safety.

Implants can be round, which create a fuller upper breast, or anatomical – drop-shaped, which mimic the natural slope of a woman’s breast. The placement of the implants is adapted to the type of figure and the desired result: they can be inserted under the breast gland, under the pectoral muscle or with the Dual Plane technique, where they are partly under the muscle and partly under the gland. The incision for implant insertion is most often made in the bust crease – this method is the most accurate, allows faster healing and the scar is usually inconspicuous. Other incision options include guiding around the areola or in the armpit, each of these techniques has specific advantages and limitations that are always assessed individually.
