What is vaginal stricture?

Vaginal tightening (often called vaginoplasty) is a simple and effective procedure that restores the firmness and shape of the vagina, improves sexual comfort and increases women’s self-confidence. Vaginal tightening is a surgical procedure aimed at tightening the muscles and tissues in the vaginal entrance area, most commonly after childbirth or due to age. The surgery takes approximately 30-60 minutes and depending on the extent of the procedure can be performed under local anesthesia, analgesia or general anesthesia.

Preoperative examination

  • Gynaecological examination
  • Depending on anaesthesia, ECG and blood tests, if necessary
  • It is possible to undergo an examination at our clinic
  • Results must be no older than 14 days before the procedure

Preparation before the procedure

  • 7 days before surgery, take out blood thinners
  • No smoking at least 24 hours before the procedure
  • No eating, drinking alcohol or coffee 12 h before the procedure

Procedure

  • Duration: approx. 30-60 minutes (depending on the scope)
  • Performed as an outpatient or during short-term hospitalization
  • The doctor removes excess mucous and strengthens the muscles of the perineum (perineum) and surrounding tissues
  • Stitches are absorbable

After the cork

  • Short rest, usually the patient goes home the same day
  • Mild to moderate pain – treated with analgesics
  • A resting regime and hygiene of the intimate area is recommended

Follow up

  • The first check-up usually takes place within 7-10 days, according to the agreement with the surgeon

Increased restriction: 1-2 weeks of rest after the procedure

Recommendations

  • Duration of healing: 2-4 weeks – limit movement and heavy lifting
  • Sexual intercourse: usually after 6 weeks (as directed by your doctor)
  • Maintain hygiene of the intimate parts – wash with water or a non-irritating product
  • Wear loose cotton underwear

Contraindications

Possible complications

The treatment is not suitable for people who:

  • Pregnant or women shortly after giving birth
  • With active vaginal infection
  • With cancer or serious chronic illness
  • Women with significant atrophy of the vaginal mucosa

Possible complications are rare and may include:

  • Mild bleeding or spotting
  • Swelling, tension in the scar
